1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Jessica Harmon and I am and always will be from sunny Miami, Fl, yet I currently reside in Houston, TX 2. What is your hair type? 4C dry hair
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I simply always wanted long healthy hair and with a perm I never achieved that. So at the beginning of 2012 I decided to begin transitioning. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Transitioning and taking care of the two hair types. After about 6 months of transitioning I big chopped and never regretted it. I rocked my twa? 5. What is your weekly regimen? Well I wash every other week. I use 3 products: Shea Butter and coconut oil blend to, Cantu Coconut curling cream, and Eco styler gel to do my twist-outs or my braid-outs for the week. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? If I have twist or braids I spritz my hair with water, put a dab of my Shea-Coconut oil mix in my palms and gently rub into the ends of my hair. Then I untwist, finger fluff and go. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I put a dab of my Shea-Coconut oil mix in my palms and gently rub into the ends of my hair. Put my hair into a pineapple puff and tie a silk scarf around my head. I keep it simple 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? No, I did once last year and my hair shed horribly so since then I haven't.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Not braids with weave, but I do braid up my hair myself, just to have a braid out Afro. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide Tooth Comb all day. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is usually loose. I love my fro being free. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes it was when I first colored my hair and it began to break off. I learned what deep conditioners worked, to repair, and began to give my hair weekly oil treatments to heal and restore my hair. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Keep it simple. Find 3 to 4 products that are tried and true and work for your hair. Low maintenance styles that allow your hair the freedom to grow in interrupted, and be kind to your hair, no pulling and harsh combing. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Dorcas also known as Curious Curls and I’m of Nigerian descent, born and raised in London, England but currently living in Toronto. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is a mixture of all the type 4s. Everything from 4a – 4c. The sides of my hair are predominantly 4c, while my crown and back are a mix of 4a/4b.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
My last relaxer was in May 2011 and I did a long term transition for 22 months. I big chopped in February 2013 & did a second big chop in November 2013 and sported a TWA. I went natural because I had been relaxed for so long I had no idea what my natural hair looked like. I was simply curious (thus the name Curious Curls). 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The adjustment in my regimen. I had a pretty solid relaxed hair care regimen and had to re learn how to care for my natural hair. The last time I had been natural my mother was the person who cared for my hair. So it really was the first time in my life I was learning how to handle my own natural hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I’ve currently made some tweaks in my regimen as I am trying to achieve maximum growth but overall it is simple. I wash and deep condition (under a hooded dryer) weekly. I finger detangle in the shower and follow up with my leave-in, oil (Jamaican Black Castor Oil) and shea butter to twist. If I’m wearing a wash and go then I used a gel on top of my leave-in and oil instead of the shea butter to twist. I’ve also incorporated Jamaican Black Castor Oil and scalp massages on a weekly basis to stimulate growth. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I simply fluff and go. If my hair needs a bit of moisture I use a moisturizing spray or hair milk and seal with oil and then put it up in a puff. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? Not much, I don’t retwist, I simply sleep on a satin pillowcase. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? When I wear a wash and go I often will diffuse my hair to speed up the process and I have done a blowout. But since my second big chop I’ve never straightened my hair.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I do braid my hair, usually box braids with extensions. I would say I do so about 4 times a year. Often times when I'm going on a vacation/trip or just need a break from my hair I'll get braids installed. I'm a bit weary of getting braids since my last installation caused a bit of breakage but I do plan on doing it in the future with some precautions during the installation process. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Neither, I opt for my fingers. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Most of the time it is loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I wouldn’t call it a tragedy but I got a set of box braids that were installed without the stylist caring for my ends. She was rough when installing them so when I took them down I had so many split and rough ends. I had to get a pretty significant trim to remedy the damage which was a bummer. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Keep it moisturized, don’t skip your trims and deep condition often. Honestly doing those 3 things is when I see the biggest difference in my hair. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Staci Tyson and I am from Kansas City, MO 2. What is your hair type? My hair falls between 4B and 4C
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I big-chopped on 13 April 2011. My first born daughter inspired me to go natural. At that time she was almost 2yrs old. I decided if I wanted her to embrace her beautiful texture, then I must lead by example so I went in the bathroom and cut all my relaxed hair off! 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Learning to manage my new texture and gaining the understanding that my natural texture was completely different than my relaxed hair. I was on YouTube faithfully looking for natural beauties that had similar textures as mines.I quickly became a product junkie, searching for products that worked best for my hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I really don’t have a solid weekly regimen other than making sure my hair is moisturize at all times. However, I do co-wash my hair bi-weekly and I deep condition monthly! 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I start off by moisturizing my hair with water and oil ( evoo, coconut oil or Carol’s daughter Lisa’s Hair Elixir), I then fluff, take down twist, and or pin up my hair. It really depends on the style I am rocking! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I always moisturize my hair before bed. I use a hair lotion or one of my favorite oils and a spritz of water. I try not to ever go to bed with my hair completely out, that's just asking for a detangling fight. I twist my hair into about ten twist or I will bun it up, ensuring my ends are covered then I finish off with a satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes, I straighten my hair once a year to check my length and the condition of my ends. If needed I take this opportunity to trim my ends.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Yes I braid my hair, maybe a couple of times a year. I really like Box-braids and Marley twists. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Ummm I’m going say 50/50 I love to wear my hair out but I am a sucker for protective styles too. ex: Goddess twist/braids, buns, mini twist, and pin ups! 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I haven’t had any hair tragedies with my natural hair so far. Thank God!! But I’ve had a gang of mishaps with my relaxed hair! Going natural is definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip is to love your hair and embrace every stage! If you take the time to put love in your hair, it will grow. Be patience and enjoy the journey. Remember to hydrate your kinks and curls. The process is very similar to taking care of a plant! LOL :) 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
Hi! I am Morgan and I am from North Carolina, USA. 2. What is your hair type? I consider my hair type to be 4C: kinky and coily.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I have gone natural three times but recently did the big chop in March of 2014 to get rid of heat damage. I decided to get rid of my damaged hair because I wanted to embrace my natural kinks and coils and no longer hang on to unnecessary, lifeless hair. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing about going natural was learning my natural hair. I had to relearn what my hair loves, likes and dislikes, what products my hair worked well with, the kind of ingredients to stay away from and even having to cut back on old habits like applying excessive direct heat. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Each week I make sure to deep condition and co-wash my hair. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Every morning I do the LOC Method by spraying my hair with a leave-in conditioner, followed by a lightweight oil and then a moisturizing styling cream. I also make sure to take my hair vitamins while eating my breakfast. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? My night time regimen is very simple and no matter the hair style it stays the same – I massage my scalp for 2-5 minutes and protect my hair with either a satin bonnet or scarf. That’s it! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I use heat on my hair 1-2 times a year and I always use a heat protectant before doing so.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I do not wear braids, with extensions, but every few months I will braid my own hair simply to wear a braid out the next day! And the same with twists; I also wear them as a protective style. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I finger detangle first and follow up with a wide-tooth comb. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Normally my hair is in a protective style such as twists, a bun or a wig. I have noticed my hair grows the most when it is kept in a protective style because I do less manipulation to my hair. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Oh my gosh – yes! My hair has suffered from heat damage, excessive shedding, dryness and breakage. For the heat damage and breakage, I simply cut if off. For the excessive shedding, I learned how to balance protein and moisture while also taking hair vitamins and my hair only sheds at a normal rate now. And, for the dryness I faithfully do the LOC Method (liquid/leave-in conditioner, oil and cream) and Greenhouse Effect and my hair continues to stay hydrated throughout the day. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip for maintaining healthy hair is to take care of your body, inside and out. That means eating healthy, drinking water, exercising regularly, treating any health conditions/concerns and properly nourishing your hair. Stick to a regimen that works for your hair, protect your hair at night, limit heat and wear protective styles that are not too tight! 14. Where can we find you online? 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Trophie Douglas and I am from Houston, Texas. 2. What is your hair type? I am a strong 4c lol! I have really thick kinky hair.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I began my transition in November 2011 and I big chopped May 5, 2012. I went natural because I was tired of my hair not growing. It was at a stand still and it was very thin and brittle. I started watching youtube videos and saw all these natural women with beautiful healthy hair. It just made more sense and I'm so happy that I made that decision. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The awkward twa stage. I'm used to having long hair and I just didn't feel comfortable after my bc. Ofcourse I got used to it but in the beginning I was in a state of shock. Also dealing with shrinkage. When I went natural I knew nothing about shrinkage so I was totally taken by surprise. Ive learned to embrace my shrinkage and use different methods to stretch my hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash, condition, and deep condition my hair once a week. Usually I do a twist out style and wear it loose for about two days. I re twist and wear it loose a couple more days and just wear a puff for the rest of the week. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually take my hair out of the pineapple and fluff. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I pineapple my hair at night. I just push all of my hair to the top of my head and wrap a scarf around it. Also I sleep of a satin pillow case just incase my scarf comes off. I'm a wild sleeper! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes, but in moderation. I get my hair professionally straightened about 3 times a year. Every now and then I will stretch my hair with a blow dryer on medium heat. Ive had heat damage before so i'm very cautious about using heat on my hair.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Yes, I get box braids about 3 times a year. It is a great protective style. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use a wide tooth detangling comb and it is a lifesaver! 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Loose, I usually have it in a twist out or a puff. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes. I got my hair colored a couple years ago and it was the worst decision ever! The color was beautiful but it was very drying on my hair. It caused my hair to break off and really stunted my growth. It was a true learning experience. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Just make a routine and stick to it. My wash day routine is very simple so its easy for me to maintain. I use the LOC method when I first style my hair so that I don't have to moisturize it daily. I deep condition every week. (VERY IMPORTANT) I use little heat and I don't manipulate my hair much. 14. 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Jessie Antionette and I'm from Lawton, OK. 2. What is your hair type? 4C- coarse, naturally dry, low porosity
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural November 2012. I did it because it was tending; I stuck with it because I became infatuated with my hair. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Lengthy Wash Days 5. What is your weekly regimen? Prepoo, shampoo, condition & style 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Moisture then oil to seal. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? Moisture right after shower then wrap it up! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes I love heat! I have no rules I use it as often as I want (but not excessively). I counter heat damage by using specific heat protection products & adding protein treatments before and after heat styling.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Yes, I love braided updo; I could do those once a week maybe every two weeks if I braid tight enough. I may do a protective style like box braids once or twice a year. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use a wide tooth comb in a regular basis to detangle. If I want definition for a twist out, coil out, etc will use a denman brush while styling. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is usually in two flat, chunky two-stand twist. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? My hair tragedy was in April 2013 when I stopped getting relaxers and tried a variety of DIY treatments. I hadn't done much of any research and I thought my hair coming in (new growth) needed protein. Terrible mistake! I was doing DIY egg/fresh minced garlic protein treatments as much as 3 times a week! I lost the majority of my relaxed hair in the middle of my head; I had edged though! There was no recovery y'all! I did the big chop that same month, but I got a weave cause I was scared to see what I looked like without hair! 3 months later I took the weave out, did research on hair care and fell in love. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Keep your scalp clean, eat well, drink water & fine products that work for you! Popular products are cool but don't work for everyone. Also, experiment cautiously. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I got my first perm at the age of 18 and my hair stayed healthy but every time I had new growth I always ended up liking that texture more than my permed hair texture so I grew my perm out to go natural. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Shrinkage 5. What is your weekly regimen? I honestly had been doing a twist out for a while and I do that maybe once every two weeks 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I wake up and rubs both of my hands all over my head like a little boy haha. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Janet Yeboah and I'm from Ghana. I live in the U.S. 2. What is your hair type? I don't follow the mainstream hair typing system because I feel it's irrelevant to the health of your hair. Knowing your hair's texture, density, and porosity is more important in knowing how to care for your hair and what products to use. I have kinky corse texture, medium density, and low porosity hair.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I big chopped on December 6th, 2014. I decided to return natural because my relaxed hair was never healthy so I started researching on how to achieve and maintain healthy hair and I came across natural hair videos on YouTube and fell in love. I also learned about the harmful effects of relaxers on our hair and body and from that moment, I knew I wanted to grow my natural hair. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing was trying to get the people around me to also understand and accept my natural hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash and deep condition my hair every 2 weeks and I moisturize every 2 days or whenever my hair feels dry using the L.C.O. method. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually have my hair in twists or braids the night before so in the morning, I just unravel, fluff, and go. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I usually re-twist/re-braid and cover with my satin scarf at night. Or if I'll be doing a puff or updo the next day, I simply put my hair in about 5 loose puffs and over with my satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes. I blow dry and trim every 3 months.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Yes. I'll say once or twice a year during the winter months. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I rarely use a Denman brush. I finger detangle during the week and use a Wide-tooth comb on wash days. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Loose 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes. I installed box braids when I was relaxed and most of my hair broke off after taking them out. That motivated me even more to go natural so I cut the thin ends off and transitioned to natural hair. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Accepting and loving your hair in whatever texture, shape or form, healthy diet and drinking lots of water, keeping hair moisturized and trimmed when needed. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Brittany Ingram and I'm from. Spartanburg South Carolina 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is 4c
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural about 1 year 1/2 ago and I originally did it due to my alopecia, hoping that by not having any relaxer on my scalp may help with my hair growing back. Then I went to a natural hair event in Japan on an Air Force base and the women there were all natural but with different styles and textures. It looked really amazing and it also gave me the inspirations and the extra push to go natural. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging part about starting was thinking that my hair was too nappy to be pretty and that I wouldn't look good with the natural styles like some other women. "I would say that, that natural look, it's not for me". Once I was able to see that I could do different styles with it, I likes it more. I started low and cut all of my hair off even all over, and once it became long enough I did some protective styles to change it up a bit (braids and twist). My hair grows really slow so that's frustrating as well. 5. What is your weekly regimen? My hair is very low maintenance. I cowash it weekly apply leave in conditioner and apply some oil (olive oil, coconut oil, or almond oil) for hydration. I will deep condition it once a month and wash with shampoo once a month. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I typically spray it with a little water to loosen it up and apply a pea size of oil for extra hydration. Then I'll spray a little bit of leave-in conditioner to style it and shape it. If I add too many products to my hair it makes it hard and dry. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? At night in pretty simple. I allow the steam from the shower to soften my hair and I just twist it up (two strand twist) and apply a satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Sometimes If I want to braid it for a protective style. Other than that I allow it to air dry.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I love braids and experimenting with my hair. I may braid it 2/3 times a year. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I like both depending on what style my hair is in. I use my wife tooth when I want volume and I use the denman brush to really smooth out the coils. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I go back and forth because I get bored with styles really easily so 60% of the time it's natural and 40% protective styles. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes. Not too bad. It was a protective style that someone did. It was horrible and too big. I just took it out and rocked my natural hair. (Pretty simple and quick fix). ;) 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? I'm still learning about how to Maintain healthy hair but I would say education about your own hair type and listening to your hair as it responds to products is key. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Doni Raye and I am from Southern Louisiana. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is 4b/c.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural on January 1, 2014 because I wanted a fresh start in life. I wanted to be liberated from society’s definition of beauty. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Finding the courage to actually do it. Nothing else in my journey compares to the fear that I had when I first big chopped. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Every Saturday I do a hot oil treatment, wash, deep condition, and style. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I do light coconut oil and water and style because it is already moisturized from the night before. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I use a satin cap to sleep after I do my daily moisturizing. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Once, it was a huge fail. I ended up putting a kinky straight ponytail on it after my flat iron puffed up.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? So far, I’ve only had one protective style other than my faux puff and that was my marley twists. So, I’d say maybe once or twice a year. My edges or thin so I try not to do braids often. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? It’s about what and what. I wear my faux puff a lot since it’s cold and I don’t want to wash my hair because I get sick easily. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I big chopped twice by accident. After the first one in January, I went to a barber and he cut me like a boy in May 2014. So, I had to grow it out again. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Still trying to figure it out, honestly. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).
