Oh, sad day...Little Zeusy started nursery last week. On the first day, he waved at me and I thought, this will be easy...
...however, I now realise he thought I was just going to the next room - he now cries when I drop him off and it breaks my heart. I know he's 10 months and lots of people have to leave children in day care much earlier but it's no consolation. On the other hand, I do enjoy my work so at least I'm not leaving him for a job I hate which for others is the case. How was it when you started leaving your child at nursery or day care?

Hey Heather! I feel your pain. Our sons are very close in age (mine was born 19/12/2014 and is also mixed white and black!) and he is also starting nursery next week! I've been doing warm up sessions this week and he's doing ok, I'm more of a wreck than him ha ha! It is heart breaking though, I'm waiting for it to get easier...not happened yet though! Love your work, keep it coming! X

Hi Heather, it will get easier with time. Just don't let him see you cry, then he will get more emotional. Its normal your a new mommy and that goes along with all the love you have for little Zeusy.

Now that my only child is 25 years old, I will speak honestly. I felt horrible and guilty every morning. I never let him see me crying. I spoke positive assured to him that I would come back. Nothing I tried worked. Our mornings together were dread and gloom. Finally, my hubby agreed to take him and I picked him up. He wanted to be a big boy for his daddy and a baby for his mom.

I experienced the same thing it took him about a month not to cry when I took him to daycare. He was almost 2 however but eventually he will get use to it and not cry when you leave him.

Hello Heather! Both my kids started daycare at 2 months old, so it was pretty easy for them, but me on the other hand I was a wreck! Leaving your children in the care of someone else is always hard, especially when they're so young. Each day will get a little easier, just stick to the routine.Pretty soon Zeusy will be giving you hugs and kisses then pushing you out of the door. Take it one day at a time Mama it will get easier.

It was hard for me the first week I only worked half days and I would pop in for surprised visits. Some days she would cry when I dropped her off and cry when it was time to go home LOL! It gets easier. I have two 2 years apart it was definetly easier with the 2nd. I went through those same heartbreaking emotions when my eldest started kindergarten. IT WILL GET EASIER!

My son is now 21 years old.. when I drop him off to nursery it was hard for me in the beginning.. but when I come thru the door he would see me and start running to me, while the other children where sleeping on the ground.. he know that mum was coming... The time will pass.. Lil Zeusy will stop crying at his best time... it will be alright in time..

Heart breaking yes... I recall the day I dropped my youngest (kya) at daycare. I double checked her bag once we were inside to make sure she had everything. Told the staff to call me if there were any questions. I stood and looked at her while being assured that she would be fine. I finally left went to my car and cried and called my mom before driving to work, needless to say I was late that day. My heart felt broken. So I completely understand and can say it will get easier. As they get older they are able to do more and they are even more fun. You come to understand/know they need these new experiences. Enjoy the little moments, it goes by fast. Kya is now 7 and she is amazing. :). Just think you will look back on that day as we do and smile, remembering the love you have for that little person.

Hi Heather I know how you feel, it's been quite a while 30 yearsmy daughter used to cry she was 1 year old and eventually she got used to going.... and the school would say after I walked out of the school door she stopped crying, soon he will get used to going to school and you will become accustomed to dropping him off, it's not easy at first, takes some getting used to, especially when he's still a baby...... Bring a favorite toy with him or a blanket that he likes, something to distract him while you go to work ..... GOD BLESS,

it never gets easier Heather the guilt and pain is always there but u get used to it, u learn to live with it because u r leaving him there for all your survival. I have 3 kids aged 13, 7 and 5 and even now just thinking that my little one (the last one) is at daycare and iam not there to pick her up after school at 3pm still pains me. The two big ones i have to ask friends to pick them up, drop them home and its painful for them to get home and there is no one. If possible ask to work part time shorter hours per day that wil help ease the pain. and good luck you are not alone xoxox

My daughter is 6 now, when I first dropped her off at creche she was 3, she was such a little trooper and didn't cry. She never cried when I dropped her off but her mistress told me afternoons were a different story. She would wake up calling for me and was inconsolable when she couldn't find me. It broke my heart so much, she was brave for mommy in the morning always.

It is not easy to leave your children at school the very first day they start school. I hope he will get used to it meeting new friends etc and you will also get over it with time

I do not have any children but I totally understand where you are coming from as I hear this from my friends and work colleagues all the time and their children are past the nursery/day care stage - and just when you think it has settled the school/nursery/day care takes a break for a week and you are almost back to square one! However, as with most things in life, this too will pass and only lasts for a period of time ... it is when they eventually run off from you in the playground to be with their friends without a backward glance for Mum or Dad that you know they are becoming independent of you. Still, if you feel anything like I did when I realised that I had missed the 30% discount off the Queen of Kinks box set this week ... it could take a while :-)

Little Zeus sounds like my son. First day was easy, but he started crying form the second day and it went on for a whole month. The principle of the school was so nice though, she would let me call just to check on him 30 minutes later by which time he would have settled down and would be perfectly fine. It does get easier I promise. Little Zeus will soon be giving you hugs and kisses goodbye.

Awww he's soooo cute!!! I have three (two girls 8, 4 and baby boy 3) and know exactly what you're going through. Fortunately, I was able to stay home for three years with my first and second but my second started Pre-K this year and we went through her crying spells. She's actually very clingy so as soon as I leave she'll be right under her teacher which is a pain of course but the feeling of having to leave them hurts each time and with each kid. We gotta do what we gotta do though. :)

Hi Heather, I do remember the first time I took my sons to preschool. I was prepared for a struggle, but my boys were all to excited to notice I had left. When I called the school about an hour later, the teacher said they were coloring. Needless to say I felt some kind of way... Eventually I got over it. I have six sons. I guess that's what I get for teaching them to be observant of each other because each one responded the same as the brother before him lol.
