A Daily Regimen For Natural Hair - How To Maintain Your Hair During The Week

4/12/2013

Picture
The average person doesn't have much time to spend on their hair during the week.

Here is a recommended routine that you can follow:

BEFORE BED
  • Massage Neno Natural's Hair Growth Stimulator into your hair's roots.
  • Using a little moisturizer part hair into 6 or 8 sections and twist it before bed.
  • Sleep on a satin pillow OR on a satin pillowcase. You don't need to use both but you can if you want to.

WHEN YOU WAKE UP
  1. Spritz some water on twisted or untwisted hair. If you'll be wearing your hair down don't spray too much water on it to prevent the hair from frizzing.
  2. Cover your hair in a shower cap as you get ready for the day if it's matted or very dry.
  3. Add a little creamy moisturizer to soften the hair, oil to seal, then style as desired.

Share any daily hair routines that you use to keep your hair soft AND especially to keep you rocking up to work on time.

Thanks for the tips.

My Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays I just moisturize with water(spritz or I wet my hands) or Moisturizing lotion. and seal with carrot oil or Vatika.

I co wash on Wednesdays and deep condition on Sundays.
only on these two days do I oil my scalp unless It feels itchy on the other days.

Because its dusty and hot where I live(before I get to work my hair is dry 30 Min) some weeks I pour water on my hair every morning and seal.
(I have it all written down, so that I don't forget but it helps me monitor my progress :) At lunch time i spritz water and olive oil moisturizer, Before I leave work I spritz again.

At night I use a silk scarf.. If am not in twists and a like, I make big plaits for the night. I actually do more during the day than night because I also have to go to school after work.

For the days that my days start off with me not having time for my hair I drink lots of water and my hair and scalp stay moisturized.. :)

I wear wig for work. Helps minimize the time I interfere with my hair. My hair is breaks very easy, very thin and splits easy. So I leave it out only when I have to dress up and look pretty, which I dont need at work, (with my type of work). Or I keep it in a silk scarf if I have not time but not working.

I have low porosity hair..What condition or deep condition would you recommend? How often should I co wash and wash my hair? I am transitioning without big chop.

Usually I just give my hair what's she needs when she needs it, but my basic hair care regimen starts on Fridays.
●Friday: Homemade deep conditioner with my two staple ingredients
•coconut milk
•raw unprocessed honey
•an oil (mainly peppermint and olive oil)
And kind of add whatever else my hair may need for example
•banana
•egg
•mayo
•aloe vera juice
•acv
•an oil (coconut oil, olive oil, or a choice of essential oil)
I blend in a blender, warm on stove, pour in spray bottle, rinse my hair with hot water, and then I spray my hair paying most attention to my old ladies (what I call my ends; their the senior citizens of my hair so I take care to give them the upmost treatment to keep them living as long and healthy as possible ) I then leave this on all day and night in a plastic cap then wrapped in a towel so it doesn't leak all night.

●Saturday: the real fun begins
•Rinse with cold water and follow with an ACV and Aloe vera rinse and left on for about 15 min. (I only wash my hair if there is a lot of product build up at the end of the week )
•Rinse with cold water again then apply warmed conditioner usually with coconut oil to give extra slip, and place a plastic cap. If I have time I'll sit under the dryer for 45 min. If not a plastic cap will due with a towel that was in the dryer or wet and placed in the microwave .
•Rinse with cold water; use a t-shirt to semi dry
•Mist hair with distilled water and seal with light avocado oil and steam or steam with leave in conditioner
•Follow with a style that will last a week and I use the LOC method when styling.

During the week: I steam when my hair feels dry or brittle using the baggy method overnight, I mist my hair every other day with Shea Moisture Yucca mist, and I grease my scalp when it feels dry. I ALWAYS sleep with a silk scarf.

I also take vitamins everyday and goal myself to drink 100 ounces of water at least. It's hard to eat right because I'm pregnant and I hit the gym Monday-Friday.
