When I take braids out my hair is normally very dry and I incur some breakage purely as a result of that dryness so this time I decided to fortify my hair with a hot oil treatment.
For the treatment I mixed:
You can use any three oils but these oils are especially good as pre-shampoo treatment because they can penetrate into the hair fibre. Some oils like sweet almond oil and castor oil can't penetrate hair fibres for the most part and as such are better for sealing hair. You can buy all these carrier oils (and three more) in one nifty pack. Into the blend I put 3 to 4 drops of the following essential oils:

I shook the blend to mix then microwave for 10 seconds at a time until it was warm.
I covered my hair in a shower cap then went for jog before releasing my hair from braids. This helped to generate heat. You don't have to go jogging, just cover your hair in a showercap then blow dry over the surface and tie a scarf over that to trap the heat in. Leave for 30 minutes. I had very minimal breakage when I took my hair out compared to what I usually get so I was pleased. ![]() Get your FREE ebook on How To Grow Long, Healthy Natural Kinky or Curly Hair. I have type 4b hair. Whenever I use coconut oil on my hair it makes it so hard and unmanageable. Is there a reason why?

have you tried this method with braid extensions? i'm trying to figure out how to apply this method to my hair given that it's tucked away in the braid extensions. Comments are closed.
