Review: Au Naturale by Dark & Lovely & Curl Care by Dr Miracles

9/12/2013

Picture
Rating: 1/5 (Dark & Lovely)

I finally had to say it! I think the big brands have jumped onto the growth in natural hair keepers not to serve us but to make money out of us.

I was disappointed with both of these lines. My hair is:
  • very tangle-prone,
  • knotty,
  • dry and
  • lacking in curl definition
and neither of these lines solved these problems.

The products were lacking in slip and my hair remained quite dry.

Going forward, if I don't have time to whip up my own recipe I am going for brands that were developed specifically to solve the issues of natural hair. The tangle-struggle is so real!

Oh, why am I rating them 1 out of 5 if they are so bad? Well, Au Naturale by Dark & Lovely gets a point for pretty packaging and Dr Miracle's Curl Care gets a point for not being quite as bad as Dark and Lovely.

I completely agree with your review. I've used Dark & Lovely gel while traveling because of the availability. While my curl definition was there the product was drying and flakey; which caused me to wash daily.

I totally agree with you Heather I received some samples from a hair show from the Dr. Miracle line and I was not impressed. My hair is type 4C and very very dry. It is difficult to find products for me and I was disappointed with them also. Thanks for your review.

Thanks for the video Heather. Would you be able to recommend some deep conditioners, that I can buy in the uk? Other than the ors replenishing conditioner? I think my hair is type 4b/c Thanks

I always try to stay away from big brands. I have 4 c and only products that work well with my hair are Shea Moisture products.

I bought the Dark & Lovely Curl Defining Creme Glaze anti shrinkage.....yeah right....my hair is naturally very kinky curly & it takes very little product to make it curl but this did absolutely nothing for & to my hair but make it smell good. It was a waste of money.

Amen sis. I tried both lines early in my hair journey, so I thought they were ok...not great. Now, I wouldnt use it at all! My hair loves the As I Am line, and the Shea Moisture line. Stay out the game big business! This aint yo show lol
