1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Kayedee (CurliKay) and I'm from the most beautiful island in the southern Caribbean, Grenada. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is between 3C and 4A.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I returned natural because not only was my relaxed hair boring, I wanted to lead a healthier life, mind, body and soul and well chemicals don't fit into that mix so I returned natural, embracing my curls on October 22, 2013. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging for me would be detangling especially when I wore my hair loose for a period of time. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I keep my regimen simple: I shampoo, condition and deep-condition my hair weekly. I interchange every week between a green-tea rinse and an apple cider vinegar rinse. I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil to seal directly out of the shower and my whipped shea butter to lock all that good stuff in, then allow my hair to air dry and style as desired after an hour or so. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the morning I simply fluff my hair out if I am wearing it loose and if not then I use a toothbrush to get my edges to lay down and I'm good to go. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? My nighttime routine consists of re-moisturizing my hair using the L.O.C method focusing mainly on my ends and sleeping with a satin bonnet or scarf, this depends on the hairstyle that I have. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Since returning natural, I have never used heat, not even from a blow dryer or a steamer. But I do intend to flat-iron my hair one day.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
Yes, I braid my hair. I did it more often when my hair was shorter but now that it's basically shoulder length I don't as much so I would say I braid it once or twice a year. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use both but lately I've been leaning more to the Denman brush because it helps detangle my hair better and not leaving that much knots for me to undo with my hands. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Being honest this is equally done because I wear my hair one week twisted and the next week loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes, my dye went wrong. I was trying to dye my hair purple and so I bleached my hair. I didn't get the color I wanted and was left with extremely dry and brittle hair that started to break. Well after numerous deep-conditioning sessions I just decided to chop most of the ends off and dye it black and continue deep-conditioning and moisturizing and after a while it felt better, healthier. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip would be to always keep your hair moisturized, never allow your hair to get dehydrated, because it would eventually lead to breakage and that's not what we're looking for in a healthy hair journey. 14.
