1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Staci Tyson and I am from Kansas City, MO 2. What is your hair type? My hair falls between 4B and 4C
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I big-chopped on 13 April 2011. My first born daughter inspired me to go natural. At that time she was almost 2yrs old. I decided if I wanted her to embrace her beautiful texture, then I must lead by example so I went in the bathroom and cut all my relaxed hair off! 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Learning to manage my new texture and gaining the understanding that my natural texture was completely different than my relaxed hair. I was on YouTube faithfully looking for natural beauties that had similar textures as mines.I quickly became a product junkie, searching for products that worked best for my hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I really don’t have a solid weekly regimen other than making sure my hair is moisturize at all times. However, I do co-wash my hair bi-weekly and I deep condition monthly! 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I start off by moisturizing my hair with water and oil ( evoo, coconut oil or Carol’s daughter Lisa’s Hair Elixir), I then fluff, take down twist, and or pin up my hair. It really depends on the style I am rocking! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I always moisturize my hair before bed. I use a hair lotion or one of my favorite oils and a spritz of water. I try not to ever go to bed with my hair completely out, that's just asking for a detangling fight. I twist my hair into about ten twist or I will bun it up, ensuring my ends are covered then I finish off with a satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes, I straighten my hair once a year to check my length and the condition of my ends. If needed I take this opportunity to trim my ends.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
Yes I braid my hair, maybe a couple of times a year. I really like Box-braids and Marley twists. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Ummm I’m going say 50/50 I love to wear my hair out but I am a sucker for protective styles too. ex: Goddess twist/braids, buns, mini twist, and pin ups! 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I haven’t had any hair tragedies with my natural hair so far. Thank God!! But I’ve had a gang of mishaps with my relaxed hair! Going natural is definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip is to love your hair and embrace every stage! If you take the time to put love in your hair, it will grow. Be patience and enjoy the journey. Remember to hydrate your kinks and curls. The process is very similar to taking care of a plant! LOL :) 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Rikki Danielle and I am originally from Kansas City, Mo., currently residing in Hawaii. 2. What is your hair type? My hair is a mix of 3c and 4a.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural on January 1st, 2005. I transitioned for 4 months prior with micro braids and kinky twists (those were super popular then!) and did the big chop for the new year. It was my senior year of high school and I was soon to graduate. I wanted to start my new chapter with a change. My sister transitioned in her middle school years and her hair is beautiful. We have they same parents so I thought to myself, " I know my hair is just as pretty! We have the same genes!!" 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Gosh, the change! Having relaxed hair seemed so much easier at the time. Trying to find the right products. In 2005, there weren't all the natural hair brands like now. No stylists in my area knew much about caring for natural hair. It was a lot of trial and error! I did wash/go's every day. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Right now, my regimen consists of weekly washing & deep conditioning, then I finger coiling my hair. That is what I'm known for now! I love them because I can do the coils and not have to do it again for a week! I also love the definition and how polished my hair looks. I'm not a fan of the frizz! I love the way polished natural hair looks on me. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the mornings, I unwrap my hair and use a bit of water to bring my hair back to life. I may have to recoil a few smashed coils, but other than that, I'm good for the day! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I simply put a little of an oil on my hair then wrap it with my satin scarf. Super easy! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? No! I will not use heat until I've grown my hair out a couple years. I know how damaging heat can be and I want to retain as much length as possible! I didn't use much heat when my hair was relaxed and it did well, so I know my hair will be even better without heat being natural.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I have had braids several times during my journey. I can't braid my hair myself, so I don't do it as often as I'd like. If I could, it would stay in braids! 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Both. I love them both. I use my wide tooth comb when detangling and then smooth with my Denman. I don't know what it is about that Denman brush, but it smooths my hair like a dream!! I took a few rows out of my brush for better smoothing. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Right now it's in the protective stages. After 10 years and 7 big chops, I'm finally letting my hair grow as long as it can naturally. I've never seen it super long and curly, so I'm sticking with all sorts of protective styles until I reach my ultimate goal. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Before the 7th chop, I used to use texturing kits to loosen my curls. I didn't understand my hair fully and was going the easy route by still putting chemicals on my hair. It was very pretty, in a pixie cut, but I was damaging my scalp constantly from the product. The last kit gave me a horrible scalp burn on my edges and I vowed that from that day I would never do another texture kit again. I grew it out some and decided to do something different by coloring it a rich brown for my marriage ceremony. It looked nice for a month after and then that was it!! My hair was so dry and horrible! I did the final 7th chop in January '15 and never looked back. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Know your porosity! It truly helps when finding what products work for you and helps you break the product junkie habit. Natural hair doesn't need 20 different products at one time to look beautiful! Less is more. Also, water! Water grows all things! Internally and topically. Drink plenty and use plenty on that hair! 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
Hey curl friends I am Rajeeyah Sahar and I am from Saint Louis, Missouri! 2. What is your hair type? I have two different curl patterns. The sides and back are 4b and the front and crown are 4c with an S curl.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I originally went natural back in 2007 when I decided to loc my hair. But I made the wrong decision to relax it after I combed my locs out in December of 2009. I wasn’t educated on the care and techniques for kinky hair. After wearing a relaxer for a year. I just got tired of the breakage and started watching Youtube videos and got the inspiration from some veteran naturals. I big chopped on Feb 19, 2011. It was the best conscious decision I’ve made. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing about returning natural was finding hair styles during that awkward stage between 3-6 months. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I keep it simple with my regime and people are still amazed at how my hair stays so healthy. I shampoo every 2 weeks using my line of RSNs Cleansing Shampoo which is sulfate free. I deep condition every 2 weeks are well. I mainly use the LOC (Liquid, Oil, Cream) method which is applying water first, then an oil to seal, and finally a cream which is my Hy-Definition Twist Butter. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I wear my hair out a lot, so in the morning before work I untwist or unbraid my hair and apply an oil to it and GO. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? At night I always wrap my precious curls with a scarf. It’s important to use a satin or silk scarf to allow moisture to get to your hair. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I very rarely use heat and when I do it just to lightly stretch my curls.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I don’t normally wear braids, but I am considering box braids this summer. I wear marley twists 3-4 times a year. 10 Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb and fingers for detangling. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is always loose, which is something I’m working on. Currently I have marley twists only because I couldn’t fit my afro under my graduation cap LOL. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? OMG Don’t remind me LOL. 2 years ago I had to get 5 inches chopped off because my silly self decided to use bleach to lift my color. My poor ends were fried and I just said it’s better to have short healthy hair than long damaged hair. So My friend cut it off. After that I immediately started taking Hairfinity vitamins and it grew back very fast. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? The best advice I can give you for maintaining healthy or long hair is to deep condition and use protective styling always. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

I've been natural almost all my life. I try my best to live a healthy lifestyle both inside and out. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? I haven't had any challenges. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I co~wash when needed. I'm a deep conditioning junky and love to use my steamer. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? My curls bounced back.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I do not braid my hair because it's so fine. I never want to experience breakage. 10 Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Both 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? It's normally loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? When I was transitioning to no heat I had a sew in and left a portion out to straighten. Let's just say I got heat damage and needed to start all over again with that section. As it grew out I clipped a little at a time. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Always listen to your hair by touching it. If it feels crunchy or hard you need water, possibly a deep condition and hot oil treatment. Always tie your hair up at night. 14.
