3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural 3 years ago, I've always considered myself a natural girl inside and out, I went natural with my hair, as i felt it totally completed me being lalanaturallyme. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing about going natural was finding products that work for my hair texture, I know in the community hair typing is big, but i never quite got what worked for me just following someone or noticing someone that had what i thought was my texture hair, so i was truly a product fanatic till i found my regiment. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I only co-wash once a week, use conditioner only, i do not use shampoo at all 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I use aloe vera juice as a daily moisturizer instead of water 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I spray my hair with aloe vera juice, use a little leave in conditioner and pineapple my hair 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I've only straightened my hair once in the three years to cut my ends, I have not straightened my hair at all since then in the three years of being natural. I've used heat on my roots occasionally to add length, I only do this if i want length and have not pineappled my hair enough to stretch to desire length
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? No. I do not braid my hair 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide tooth comb 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is always loose, i only did protective styling in the beginning of my transition to natural hair. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes, I had a hair tragedy in my first year of going natural, as mentioned above, I got my ends trimmed in the first year and i thought i had to straighten my hair to do so, and when i did and got my ends trimmed, when i went to wet my hair and my hair took on its curly state, my hair was so uneven some ends were a little heat damage. Only way i over came this was to go back to my regiment of not using heat and only trimming in the curly state, heat damaged ends grew out and all is healthy now, no damage to my hair since this...Yeah! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip to my beauties out there: know the power of Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera juice is a great moisturizer for your hair, Aloe Vera Gel (100%), is a great moisturizer for your skin and if you want the total natural effect of Aloe Vera, drink Aloe Vera Juice.Aloe vera contains a huge amount of vitamins including vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, and E, so putting this in your body and your hair,,,,you will see be nourished inside and out. 14. 1. What's your name and where are you from?
Hi! I am Morgan and I am from North Carolina, USA. 2. What is your hair type? I consider my hair type to be 4C: kinky and coily.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I have gone natural three times but recently did the big chop in March of 2014 to get rid of heat damage. I decided to get rid of my damaged hair because I wanted to embrace my natural kinks and coils and no longer hang on to unnecessary, lifeless hair. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing about going natural was learning my natural hair. I had to relearn what my hair loves, likes and dislikes, what products my hair worked well with, the kind of ingredients to stay away from and even having to cut back on old habits like applying excessive direct heat. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Each week I make sure to deep condition and co-wash my hair. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Every morning I do the LOC Method by spraying my hair with a leave-in conditioner, followed by a lightweight oil and then a moisturizing styling cream. I also make sure to take my hair vitamins while eating my breakfast. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? My night time regimen is very simple and no matter the hair style it stays the same – I massage my scalp for 2-5 minutes and protect my hair with either a satin bonnet or scarf. That’s it! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I use heat on my hair 1-2 times a year and I always use a heat protectant before doing so.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I do not wear braids, with extensions, but every few months I will braid my own hair simply to wear a braid out the next day! And the same with twists; I also wear them as a protective style. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I finger detangle first and follow up with a wide-tooth comb. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Normally my hair is in a protective style such as twists, a bun or a wig. I have noticed my hair grows the most when it is kept in a protective style because I do less manipulation to my hair. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Oh my gosh – yes! My hair has suffered from heat damage, excessive shedding, dryness and breakage. For the heat damage and breakage, I simply cut if off. For the excessive shedding, I learned how to balance protein and moisture while also taking hair vitamins and my hair only sheds at a normal rate now. And, for the dryness I faithfully do the LOC Method (liquid/leave-in conditioner, oil and cream) and Greenhouse Effect and my hair continues to stay hydrated throughout the day. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip for maintaining healthy hair is to take care of your body, inside and out. That means eating healthy, drinking water, exercising regularly, treating any health conditions/concerns and properly nourishing your hair. Stick to a regimen that works for your hair, protect your hair at night, limit heat and wear protective styles that are not too tight! 14. Where can we find you online? 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Hilary Morgan. I'm from St. Louis, Missouri and I currently reside in Denton, TX. 2. What is your hair type? My hair is a mixture between 3b/c
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I haven't gotten a relaxer since I was a child. In December 2014, I decided to stop using heat on my hair and I transitioned for about 8 months when I did my Big Chop in August. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? My biggest challenge when going natural was getting in the routine of a daily hair regime. After my big chop, getting used to maintaining short hair was difficult. I've always had long hair so it was definitely a struggle when braiding and twisting shorter hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I co-wash my hair about once a week and I typically wear a protective style over the weekends. I'm sure to detangle at least once a week and I moisturize with water and leave-in conditioner, moisturize with curling creme and seal with a mixture of coconut and black castor oil. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? My daily morning regime typically consists oiling my hands and unraveling my twists or curls into smaller sections, then using a pick to separate my roots and then style my baby hair ;) 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I'm so lazy when it comes to a night regime. I try to twist my curls but some days my hair doesn't cooperate and I end up just throwing my purple bonnet on my hair and dealing with it in the morning. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I blow dry my hair about once every 2-3 months.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Not often, I'm more of a twist out kinda girl... 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Loose 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? My Big Chop was sort of my hair tragedy. I cut my own hair so it was insanely uneven. After cutting it, I realized what a mistake I made and was extremely self conscious about my hair. I overcame this by working hard on styling and re-cutting my hair everyday until I had a cut I was comfortable with. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Loving your own curl pattern. Your hair is never going to look exactly like mine, just like mine will never look like anyone else's curl pattern. I love MY hair and I do what's best for MY hair. Something else might work better for you and vice versa. It's a beautiful love story. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Trophie Douglas and I am from Houston, Texas. 2. What is your hair type? I am a strong 4c lol! I have really thick kinky hair.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I began my transition in November 2011 and I big chopped May 5, 2012. I went natural because I was tired of my hair not growing. It was at a stand still and it was very thin and brittle. I started watching youtube videos and saw all these natural women with beautiful healthy hair. It just made more sense and I'm so happy that I made that decision. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The awkward twa stage. I'm used to having long hair and I just didn't feel comfortable after my bc. Ofcourse I got used to it but in the beginning I was in a state of shock. Also dealing with shrinkage. When I went natural I knew nothing about shrinkage so I was totally taken by surprise. Ive learned to embrace my shrinkage and use different methods to stretch my hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash, condition, and deep condition my hair once a week. Usually I do a twist out style and wear it loose for about two days. I re twist and wear it loose a couple more days and just wear a puff for the rest of the week. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually take my hair out of the pineapple and fluff. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I pineapple my hair at night. I just push all of my hair to the top of my head and wrap a scarf around it. Also I sleep of a satin pillow case just incase my scarf comes off. I'm a wild sleeper! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes, but in moderation. I get my hair professionally straightened about 3 times a year. Every now and then I will stretch my hair with a blow dryer on medium heat. Ive had heat damage before so i'm very cautious about using heat on my hair.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Yes, I get box braids about 3 times a year. It is a great protective style. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use a wide tooth detangling comb and it is a lifesaver! 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Loose, I usually have it in a twist out or a puff. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes. I got my hair colored a couple years ago and it was the worst decision ever! The color was beautiful but it was very drying on my hair. It caused my hair to break off and really stunted my growth. It was a true learning experience. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Just make a routine and stick to it. My wash day routine is very simple so its easy for me to maintain. I use the LOC method when I first style my hair so that I don't have to moisturize it daily. I deep condition every week. (VERY IMPORTANT) I use little heat and I don't manipulate my hair much. 14. 3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I’ve been natural my entire life, but decided to embrace my curls in 2012. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing was definitely finding out what products and styles work on my hair and staying away from heat tools. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash my hair once a week, usually a Saturday, and then I’ll either complete a wash n’ go or a braid out to last the entire week. . Leaving me only to moisturize daily. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually just take down my pineapple that I slept with and use my favorite moisturizer/oil to loosen and refresh my curls. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I moisturize my scalp/hair and create a pineapple to sleep on. Then cover with a satin scarf/bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Very rarely, I may straighten or blow out my hair to stretch or trim my ends.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I’ve braided my hair once this year, but won’t be doing so again anytime soon. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Fingers/Denman Brush. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I tend to wear my hair loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Denasiha Christian and I am from Virginia, but currently in Indiana for school. 2. What is your hair type? I believe my hair type is a combination of 3c/4a. It tends to look thick but is pretty fine especially at the crown of my head.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
My mother was the main contributing factor for me going natural. She had been for many years and all throughout my high school years wouldn’t stop expressing how pretty my natural hair is and telling me I was addicted to perms (lol) so I told her that once I graduated I would try it out. Ended up doing the big chop my senior year April of 2012 kind of spur the moment. Two years later, after a tapered hair cut and color gone wrong I ended up doing a second big chop (May 2015). Which at first I was pretty upset about but it turned out to be very beneficial for me. I colored my hair A LOT after my first big chop and I also had no knowledge of how to really care for my hair. So being able to start over with more understanding of my hair (also not dying it a million times) has been wonderful. My hair retained SOO much more length in a shorter amount of time. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging part about going natural is learning your hair and figuring out what works for you. It wasn’t until my second big chop that I actually got my regimen down and the difference in the health and length of my hair is incredible. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I try to stick to one regimen but it sort of changes based off of how I’m feeling. But basically: Sundays – Deep condition& style (usually a wash n go) Wednesdays- Ill refresh my hair by cowashing& ill either do another wash n go or experiment with some new style .. which usually turns back into doing a wash n go ..lol The days in between Sunday and Wednesday I will moisturize my hair as needed. Which usually is about every other day so Tuesday/ Friday. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I wear A LOT of wash n go’s so usually my hair is in mini pineapples when I wake up. Ill undo the pineapples refresh my hair with a leave in conditioner or just water and conditioner in a bottle, fluff it out, lay down my edges if I feel like it and usually throw it in a puff. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? At night I check to see if my hair needs to be moisturized then I do one of two things: mini pineapples, or chunky/messy flat twists down. I have a satin scarf as well as satin pillow cases that help not to dry out my hair. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? The first two years of me being natural I almost never used heat. But now I am not afraid of heat at all, I usually only blow out my hair to prep it for protective styles (sew ins). It is rare that I do but if I randomly feel like experimenting with a blown out twist out or just want to straighten my hair for a day or two I will. Again, it is an occasional thing for me maybe once a month or so. The only heat I use on a regular basis is my blow dryer with a diffuser for my wash n go if I am in a rush.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I use to get box braids and micros a lot when I was relaxed. But I have gone away from that ever sense going natural. I only braid my hair when getting a sew in installed. When I don’t feel like dealing with my hair I may blow it out and flat twist it down for a couple of days. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I actually finger detangle my hair more than anything. If it really requires a lot of detangling that I will use my Denman brush. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Most of the time my hair is loose. But being in Indiana, during the winter I do my best to keep it put away in protective styles. Sew ins are usually my protective style of choice. Now that my hair is getting longer I have been searching for other protective styles that I like. Flat twists with my ends tucked is the only other protective style I have for now. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? The “hair tragedy” that I had was cutting and coloring my hair. I’d gotten a tapered cut and wanted to dye the front. I had been dying my hair for two years with out any major problems but dyed it and didn’t like how dark it was, attempted to use a color remover the same day and it completely destroyed my hair pattern. Granted I still had some curls but to me, they were soooo loose and I was not happy so I ended up big chopping the rest of it. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? While I have not reached the “long hair” phase. What I’ve learned, at least for me is that less is more. Less manipulation, less processing is always better. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

I'm DeShaunah, I am from South Florida, USA. 2. What is your hair type? 4a/4b curls.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I big chopped in 2013 after badly damaging my hair from relaxers and constantly coloring my hair. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing was finding styles for short hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash my hair every 2 weeks, and do a twist/braid out to last the entire week. Again, moisturizing daily. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually use a moisturizer/oil and fluff out my curls and make a large puff on top of my head. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I moisturize my scalp/hair and create a pineapple to sleep on. Then cover with a satin scarf/bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? 1. What's your name and where are you from?
I'm from Adrianna and I am from South Florida, USA. 2. What is your hair type? 3c /4a (in crown) curls.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I transitioned and cut my relaxed ends in 2012. I had a relaxer for most of my life and due to the relaxers, constant straightening, and color, my hair became extremely damaged and short. I decided that I wanted my hair grow longer and healthier, while also embracing my curls.
Ivery rarely braid my hair. My scalp gets pretty dried out so I don’t tend to braid my hair often. I’ve braided my hair twice this year. The first time was a protective style with a few chunky cornrows braided and twisted into buns. The second time I braided my bangs out of my face all the way to my crown area. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Fingers/Tangle Teaser. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I tend to wear my hair loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? About a few months into being fully natural I decided to dye my ends red. At first, my hair was doing fine BUT, I was really inexperienced with taking care of color treated hair and I was still learning about my natural curls. Eventually, my ends became dry and brittle, reducing my length a bit. So, I turned to protective styling and constant deep conditioning. Every so often I would clip my ends to get rid of the color until there was none left. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! And stay away from heat as much as you can. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Bria Larine from Detroit, MI 2. What is your hair type? 4A/4B
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural June 1st, 2013. The reason I went natural is when I got mt hair dyed blond, I noticed my hair breaking off. I really had no other option but to go natural or I could risk my hair possibly falling out... I've been obsessed with natural hair ever since! 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Transitioning from heat damage, color damage or any type of damage. Its such a huge separation between your natural curls and the dead ends. I couldn't do a twistout without using perm rods until I was natural from about 6/7 months. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I co wash with an conditioner in the middle of the weeks, either Wednesday or Thursday and style in my usual twistout, or if I'm feeling spontaneous I'll do another type of style. Sunday is my major wash day. I pre-poo with conditioner or oil (depending on what i have), co wash with a cleansing conditioner, deep condition for about an hour and style. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Mainly untwisting, fluffing. I don't do much in the morning. If I'm having a bad hair day, I style my hair in a puff as my go to style. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I spritz my hair with my water/glycerin/leave-in conditioner mix, use product of my choice and twist my hair for the night. For additional moisture i seal my hair with my Shea butter mix. I usually do larger twist because I'm mainly focusing on keeping my hair moisturized. I like my hair fluffy, so definition isn't a big deal to me. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I've used heat twice since I have been natural, and honestly I don't like the look if straight hair on myself. I feel that it take away my "look".
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? As in a braid/twist out? Almost everyday. If we are talking braids as in a protective style, I've had box braids once about 2 years ago. I might get them again soon, but I've been contemplating. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use both. I used my wide tooth comb if my hair is a mess to get out the majority of the kinks, if i just need to lightly detangle i use my Denman brush. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is loose 90% of the year, if not more. I need my fro, it's apart of me. If I have my hair in a protective style i feel awkward. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes! My hair was already struggling because my colored ends were starting to lose it curl and become limp. I then decided to do wand curls and the heat made my curls even more limp. I eventually had to cut myself some bangs because I couldn't take the inconsistent curls. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Moisturize, and seal! Use water to keep your hair moisturize and use a oil to seal that moisture in. Also, deep conditioning weekly really helps. You might not notice a instant change, but over time you'll be happy with the results. 14. Where can we find you online? I fully went natural about two years ago. My main reason for doing it was to just come back to my true identity. I was teaching myself to be comfortable with whom I was. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Relearning what I thought I had forgotten how to love my hair patiently and allow it to grow at its own pace. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Apple cider vinegar (clean away build up) Co- wash Deep conditioner 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Mist hair with water Seal it with coconut oil Eco styler gel depending on the hairstyle of the day 7. What is your daily night time regimen? 9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? Yes, I do braid my hair when I am doing protective styles. Therefore, you can say as often everyday because with or without the protective style I like to keep my hair hydrated and moisturized. I find that when it is in braids it locks all the goodness in. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb always! That is my lifesaver. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I can actually say I do both; I try not to leave my protective styles in for too long. So, I find the balance no doing one or the other for too long. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Hair tragedy, no, but I have caused a lot of damage to my hair by experimenting with bleach/color. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair?
