Queen Towanda ~ Queen Of Kinks, Curls & Coils® (Neno Natural)

21/1/2015

1. What's your name and where are you from?

My name is Towanda Pritchett also known as “NaturallyDVine”. I am from Mississippi but currently live in Astoria, OR.

2. What is your hair type?

My hair type is 4b/4c.  My hair is 4b in the back of my hair and 4C mostly in the middle and front of my head.

3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?

After transitioning for 10 months, I decided to big chopped on July 25, 2013.  I decided to go natural because I was tired of being ashamed of my natural texture and was tired of using chemicals that can not only be harmful to my hair, but also to my scalp.

4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

The most challenging thing about going natural was wearing two textures.  Wearing two completely different textures was difficult to maintain , therefore, I decided that my hair would thrive better if I big-chopped.  I was right.  My hair has grown significantly and is in its healthiest state.

5. What is your weekly regimen?

I co-wash my hair with Herbal Essence Hydration Conditioner on a weekly basis (Twice a week for wash-n-go).  I deep condition my hair every two weeks with Argan Oil Deep Treatment mask and I shampoo my hair with Carol’s Daughter once a month.  In the midst of that, I oil my hair and scalp on a daily basis with my own personal growth oil.  I mainly use coconut or castor oil as my staple.  However, before sealing the oil, I use water as my main moisturizer.

6. What is your daily morning regimen?

My daily morning regimen is quite simple.  I used the LOC method.  My leave in conditioner is “Cantu Shea moisture” along with water and aloe vera juice mix in a spray bottle, coconut oil as my main sealant, and “Cantu Shea Moisture” as my cream based.

7. What is your daily night time regimen?

My night routine mostly is using my spray bottle mix mentioned above, Carol Daughter Hair Milk Refresher, and putting my hair in a pineapple at night secured with a scarf.

8. Do you use heat on your hair at all?

Yes, I blow dryer as my tension method to stretch my hair out when I decided to do a braid out or a twist out.  Also, I flat iron my hair twice a year.

9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?

Yes.  There is no set schedule.  I usually just go according to how I feel.  However, I would say at least three times out of the year.

10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush?

I love using the Denman brush when my hair is wet and wide-tooth comb when my hair is dry.

11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do?

My hair is in a protective style 80% of the time.  I have learned that bunning, tucking, braids, and putting my hair in a high puff are the best protective styles for my hair.

12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it?

Not a major one, but I did have one when I first started installing braids and wearing tight hair puffs.  My edges started thinning, however, I learned that castor oil was good for repairing my edges.

13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair?

My biggest tip for maintaining healthy hair is “Water”.  Drink water at least 64 ounces of water and spritz your hair daily with water.  Its the greatest gift to our hair.

14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).
