1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Mimi Irvin “aka” Corporate Chic. I am a wife, mother of two handsome boys, daughter, friend, and have been told a fashionista. My day job consists of a career as a Project Engineer working in Corporate America with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I was born in Yokosuka Japan, from a military background and traveled every three years of my life. So for me home is where I make it and currently that is in Houston Texas. 2. What is your hair type? I believe I am in between a 3B and 3C
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I contemplated the idea of going natural in early 2011 and although I loved the relaxed looked and didn’t suffer from breakage, but I wanted something different. I was set forth to go on assignment in the Netherlands with my company in January 2012, so I decided December 2011 would be my last relaxer. I wouldn’t have to worry about the Texas humidity and I felt the transition would be easier to deal with in cooler temperatures. As I tried many styles as I could during my transition, 8 months would be the end of that road. I decided to do my BC August 2012. As I sat in the mirror cutting each section it was very hard to get through. I had about 3 inches of new growth but after completing that hard effort, I looked in the mirror and said yes this is ME and I will ROCK it. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The challenging part about going natural is that its trial and era with hair products. With relaxed hair, you have setting lotion, oil sheen and your wrap cap for the most part. With Natural hair and depending on your curl pattern, not every product will work for you. So it takes patience and interacting with other naturals to help find your staple. 5. What is your weekly regimen? If my hair is not twisted, I typically I will pin it up at night and sleep in satin bonnet. In the mornings I will spritz with water, add Coconut oil or shea butter and style in an up-do or wear loose. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the mornings I will spritz with water, add Coconut oil or shea butter and style in an up-do or wear loose. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? If my hair is not twisted, I typically I will pin it up at night and sleep in satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I use minimal heat on my hair. I have only had my hair flat ironed twice since I’ve been natural. From time to time I will do a roller set and sit under the dryer. Other than that I use heatless styles such as twists, bantu knots, twist outs and wash and go’s.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I twist my hair and typically wear for a week or so. I’ve never work braids that calls for extensions. I like to change my hair to much, so that is one reason I haven’t gotten braids in my hair. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Yes to the Wide-Tooth Comb. I love it and it work best for my hair. I finger detangle my hair when its wet and then I use the Wide-Tooth Comb. I use the Denman brush from time to time, but to get through my hair I need a comb. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I typically wear my hair loose either in a wash-n-go or twist out. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I honestly have not had a hair tragedy since I’ve been natural. The two times I had my hair flat ironed, it loosened my curls a little, but that was it. That is why I use minimal heat and dyes on my hair. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest TIP for maintaining healthy hair is keeping your hair moisturized and your ends trimmed. I know that is easier said than done. The key if finding the RIGHT product that moisturizes your hair texture. For those women that are thinking about going natural, I say embraces it. It’s a journey, and with every journey newness is born. It’s a lifestyle change. It takes confidence, and as women we must have self-confidence no matter the circumstance. 14. 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Korryn Johnson and I am from the Inland Empire, California. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is 3b, 3c, and 4a.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
One day in class I was sitting behind this girl who had beautiful curls and I started to wonder where I can buy some weave like that. After not being able to find any extensions that mimicked her hair, I started to remember that my hair used to be curly like that until I heat damaged it. A month later I made my appointment for my big chop on October 25, 2014. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing about going natural was having to hear everyone's rude comments. Returning natural has taught me how to have thick skin. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Every weekend I shampoo, co-wash, deep condition, and sometimes I do a hot oil treatment. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I take down my mini pineapples and just fluff it out. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I put my hair into 5 mini pineapples. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? The only time I use heat on my hair is when I'm using my diffuser or sitting under my hooded dryer. Even then, the heat is still on low.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? The only time I braid my hair is when I get box braids and that's not very often. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Denman brush. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is normally loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Well I wouldn't exactly say it was a tragedy but it was kind of bad. I was trimming my hair and when I finished, I noticed I cut too much off the front. The back was still long, the middle was medium length, and the top was short and it looked so ugly! Then I started to work with it and it turns out that it looks perfect in an Afro! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Don't use a flat iron so often (or at all), keep a consistent regimen, and always keep your hair moisturized & trimmed! 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My names Alejandra. I was born and raised in Bronx. New York. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is 3B.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I’ve been natural ever since I was a kid, but ended up suffering heat damage from straightening too often. I eventually decided to stop applying heat so often back in 2012 and have kept up with my regimen since then. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? I would have to say the maintenance was the biggest challenge for me when I made my decision. From making sure to deep condition once a week or use a protein treatment at least once a month. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, but once I got the hang of things I was good to go. 5. What is your weekly regimen? As far as my weekly regimen I’ll co-wash one week and shampoo wash the next. I make sure to deep condition once every week as well after all the manipulating my hair has gone through. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I’ll usually just take my style down, apply my favorite oil to the ends of my hair and I’m out the door. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? Twist and refresh! Lol if I feel my style can use a bit of loving I’ll just re-braid it or re-twist for the night. If not then I’ll just pull it up into a pineapple and protect the style with my satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I use it very sparingly. I went from straightening my hair once every 2 weeks to now straightening once a year or every 8 months depending on how I feel or if I’m getting that "straight hair" itch.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I braid it every night lol. As far as a protective style no, but I’d love to get some done soon to give my hair a break for a while. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? That’s a good one lol. I’ve been a fan of my widetooth comb for YEARS but the denman brush has stolen my heart and makes it super easy to detangle my hair so much faster. Denman brush it is. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Normally it’s loose 24/7. I just love having my fro out it feels natural to me and just suits my lifestyle a lot better. I’ll do a protective do maybe once a week if necessary but other than that you’ll usually catch me with my fro out. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I think the only hair tragedy I had once in my life was excessive shedding at one point. It was really scary to see so much hair coming out all at once. I ended up recovering from it by using protein treatments as well as not manipulating my hair too often, once I did that my hair grew right back out. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Consistency. I think it’s the biggest thing for maintaining healthy or long hair. Length will come in due time; as long as you’re consistent, give your hair the love it needs and make sure you're using the right products that you’ve found work for you everything else just falls into play. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Kathy a.k.a Urban Beauty Within (Youtuber). I'm from Michigan, USA. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is 3B & 3C (Curly Spirally and Curly Coily).
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural in January of 2013. Becoming natural wasn't something I thought I would ever do. The reason why I became natural is due to heat, bleach & dye damage. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The hard part of being natural was that my peers didn’t fully understand why I chose to go natural. At the end of the day it’s my hair and my life, so forget what others think lol! 5. What is your weekly regimen? I co-wash my hair once every week for 4 weeks. After the fourth co-wash I wash my hair, condition & deep condition. After I wash my hair I always do the LOC method and braid up my hair. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually go to sleep with my hair braided or twisted up. In the morning before work I just undo the braids or curls and wear my hair in a nice curly hairdo. Sometimes I wear a high curly ponytail on some days. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I usually braid or twist my hair in the evening. My hair is moisturized by doing the LOC Method. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I only use heat/straighten my hair 3 to 4 times a year. Sometimes less than that.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I braid my hair a whole lot! My hair comes out very well with braid-outs. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use both. Wide tooth comb is good for teasing your roots to create a bigger fro. Denman Brush is good to detangle your hair to make sure your curls have no snags. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is usually loose but I do like flat twist up-dos for my protective hairstyles. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? At one point in my life I used to get my hair professionally done by hairstylists. My husband, who was my boyfriend at that time, encouraged me to try doing my own hair instead of dishing out a lot of money every 2 weeks. I listened and began caring for my own hair. I was still straightening but without using relaxers. I then wanted to dye my hair blonde. My previous hair stylist refused to dye my hair blonde. When my mind is set to do something I do it. I bleached & dyed my own hair to blonde. A part of me still regrets doing that to this day. But the other half of me is happy about making this mistake because this is what led to my natural hair journey. My hair was no longer healthy and felt like hay. I was sick of trying out a lot of money every 2 weeks. I listened and began caring for my own hair. I was still straightening but without using relaxers. I then wanted to dye my hair blonde. My previous hair stylist refused to dye my hair blWhen my mind is set to do something I do it. I bleached & dyed my own hair to blonde. A part of me still regrets doing that to this day. But the other half of me is happy about making this mistake because this is what led to my natural hair journey. My hair was no longer healthy and felt like hay. I was sick of trying to live with my super damaged hair. I had a friend that was natural and asked her if I should go ahead and cut off all my hair. She agreed with me, so 20 minutes later I did the big chop. I was happy about cutting off my damaged hair but insecure about having short hair for the first time. Because of my insecurities I bought some lace wigs and even created my own. But eventually I became comfortable enough to wear my short hair out in public. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Drink plenty of water, Co-wash weekly, use products made for natural hair care. I also suggest doing the LOC Method, that has deffinately saved me! 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Yasmin Mitchell and I currently live in Queens, New York. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is between a 3b and 4a
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
What motivated me to go natural was the years of damaged hair. I used to get my hair done at the Dominican Hair Salon every 2-3 weeks. Even though I stuck with roller sets and little to no blow-drying to my hair, over time my hair just started thinning and breaking. I experienced a ton of breakage on the crown on my hair due to too much heat from the hooded dryer etc. It was at that time I had enough and was fed up and decided no more hair salons for me. I didn’t quite know what I was going to do with my hair though. My last relaxer was 2 years ago and I chose not to do the big chop, instead I chose to do a slow transition. I trimmed my hair each month until all the relaxer was gone. I cut off the last bit of relaxed ends this past May 2014. So I’ve been fully natural for about 12 months now and I LOVE IT!!!! 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging aspect of going natural for me was dealing with two textures since I transitioned. At the beginning of my journey it was tough finding styles that worked with both textures. It wasn’t until I learned how to do a braid out on my transitioning hair that it began to get a bit easier. It also helped when I adopted the curly girl method and only began washing my hair with conditioner and began ridding my hair of chemicals that it became much easier to deal with my hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash my hair every Sunday. Since I follow the curly girl method I only wash with conditioner. When I choose to clarify my hair (every 4-6 weeks) I use the Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar to clarify. I stick to low maintenance hairstyles like wash and go’s, braid-outs and or twist-outs. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the morning, depending on the season I just unravel my braid-out/twist-out and fluff my hair to the desired fullness; and the same with my Wash n Go’s. Sometimes I would apply a little olive or almond oil to my hair and/or some gel and viola! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? My daily night time routine can vary depending on the style. If it’s a braid-out or a twist-out I may re-braid/re-twist my hair. If I want length I will also band my hair as well. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? No, I have not used heat on my hair in over a year. I would however, use a warm blow dryer to diffuse or dry my hair with a handheld blow dryer.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year? I braid my own hair, but I do not use and I have never used extensions in my hair. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Denman rush 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is normally loose. I actually have not implemented the traditional protective style to my regimen as of yet. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? No, I have not had a natural hair tragedy. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip with maintaining healthy hair is implementing the Curly Girl Method and freeing your hair from all chemicals and sticking with all natural products for optimum hair health. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).
